I’m gonna do it
I’ve been inspired. I want to open an Etsy shop. It might take me a long time to make that happen….but my wheels are turning and I’m going to give it a shot. Stay tuned.
Etsy
I’ve always thought it would be so awesome to make things that I could sell. You know…be all craftsy and creative. I love Etsy – I do all kinds of shopping through their sellers and am always so inspired by it all. I just found a section on sellers who have left their jobs to pursue full-time sales through etsy…

…and I just wish that I could do something like that.
I guess I’m intimidated because while I enjoy crafting, I don’t have a CRAFT that I’m super good at or focused on.
I’ve knit hats, crocheted a blanket, sewed little fabric birds and curtains, made my own cards, created fun drawings for various occasions – but how do I figure out a FOCUS?

For the first time a product recall could actually affect my own shopping habits.
Take a look at the latest FDA recall list below, especially if you shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Petsmart…. and for items like dog treats, granola bars, and Luna bars.

Baby calming and sleep wisdom – part I
- It might take more than a minute for any particular trick to work. Just because she’s screaming in your ear during the first minute of a shh-pat dance doesn’t mean it will last. Don’t give up too quickly.
- That said, if something really isn’t working, try something new. Lately I’ve discovered that bouncing on the exercise ball, shhh-ing in her ear, AND patting her on the back can do wonders. Eliminate even one of those factors and it’s breakdown time.
- Institute a lovey. This pale green square of fuzzy fabric with some weird animal head has become her favorite little item. We keep it with her all of the time so that now it smells like milk and mom and her own spit. She loves shoving it into her face and mouth. This helps, because when I try to put her down in the “drowsy but awake” stage she can calm herself…some of the time…with her lovey.
- Don’t give up on the swaddle too quickly. While we are working on keeping at least one arm out, sometimes the only thing that will help to calm our little one is being wrapped up like a sausage.

What I’m doing with my time
Exploring other blogs online and trying to figure out if it’s right for me.
Thinking I need to work on a monthly budget now that we’re truly on one income a month.
Trying to stick to a cleaning schedule.
Working on healthy, whole-food menu ideas.
Responding “maybe” and “yes” to some upcoming moms’ group activities.
Checking out cookbooks from the library.
Going to Trader Joe’s once a week.
Why I’m here
Because after years of adventures and work I’m finally a mom….and I’m trying to figure out how all of that works.
